Hotel Re-Design
Located in the heart of Plymouth, the Civic Centre serves as the focal point of my design vision. With Plymouth surrounded by the countryside and the ocean, my goal for this brief is to reconnect users with nature, offering a retreat from the increasingly urbanised cityscape. The concept embodies a "Cosy Haven"—a timeless experience that goes beyond aesthetics, providing warmth, comfort, and an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Blending the rustic elegance of distressed finishes with the nostalgic charm of cottage living, the design celebrates traditional English floral patterns and a timeless colour palette, infusing the space with a sense of serenity and heritage.
The "Cosy Haven" theme becomes a foundation for reintroducing organic elements into urban environments, blending rustic textures, timeless floral patterns, and heritage-inspired aesthetics to evoke nostalgia and comfort. This concept sets the tone for my Final Major Project, where I explore deeper ways to reconnect people—not only with nature but also with one another. Through this approach, my final project will emphasise the importance of community, shared experiences, and a renewed appreciation for nature in an increasingly urbanised world.
